Juvenile Justice System Planning
The Rosebud Sioux Tribes’ new Youth Wellness and Renewal Center will provide an array of services for youth involved with the juvenile justice system including intake, detention, education, day reporting, treatment services, and aftercare services.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe requested assistance from members of Justice Solutions Group (JSG) to review and improve the effectiveness of the Tribe’s system of care for juvenile offenders.  With the new detention facility preparing to open, the Tribe was particularly interested in reaching an understanding of the appropriate role of detention within the framework of the juvenile justice process.  Members of JSG conducted workshops in conjunction with Sinte Gleska University Reclaiming Futures program, which were  intended to bring together key decision and policy makers to review the current juvenile justice process and participate in planning improvements to the system of care.  Services Members of JSG also worked closely with the planning team to develop a transition and activation planning process for the opening and operation of the new facility provided include:

  • Program validation
  • Design review
  • Code compliance
  • Staffing plans
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Assistance in budget development
  • Transition planning services
