BJA Announces Training & Technical Assistance is Available for Qualifying Tribes

BJA, through the American Probation and Parole Association in partnership with the Tribal Judicial Institute and the National Tribal Judicial Center, announced the availability of training and technical assistance to assist federally-recognized Indian tribes address identified gaps in justice-related training and implementation of specific provisions in the Tribal Law and Order Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-211). Assistance is available in the following three areas:

  • Exercising enhanced sentencing authority.
  • Seeking and preparing for federal assumption of jurisdiction.
  • Enhancing indigent defense services in tribal communities.
